East Kilbride Rotary Club
Year 2013 For the past seven years East Kilbride Rotary club have been involved i an annual clean up task at Calderglen park. Once again pupils from Calderglen high School have given their support in this environmental cleanup. As can be seen from the picture a large number of bags were once again collected by the team of willing workers from the school and the Rotary club. Members of the club wish to publically thank everyone who came along and gave of their time to help them in their efforts.
A lot of this work could have been prevented if visitors to the park used the waste receptacles that are available within the park or better still take their rubbish home for recycling and not discard it with the grounds of the park. rotarians in attendance Roddy Shanks, Archie King, John Murphy & Tom Wilson
Above 2014 One Assistant Headteacher, 27 pupils from 1st to 6th year from Calderglen High School and 7 Rotary members had a wet but highly enjoyable Saturday morning scrambling around the High School area of the Calderglen Park pathway and the area beside High Common Road at the burn near the school.
Twenty nine bags full of the usual litter dropped in these three areas were recovered. Friendships were made, stories exchanged and laughs abounded as the morning progressed. At the end bodies got wet as snacks were being eaten and photographs taken in the final minutes of the project, when the heavens opened. It was a great success and viseable reminders were left of tider spots worked on. The pupils should be very proud of what the did!
